Benefits of Infrared Sauna

  • Boosts Metabolism

The mitochondria (power plants of the cells) produce more ATP (energy currency of the cells) when NIR (near infrared rays) is introduced.

  • Reduces Body Fat

One study showed a group of 20 women riding stationary bicycles 3 times per week for 4 weeks exposed to NIR lost an average of 8 cm’s or 444% more as compared to 20 women doing the same exercise without NIR.

  • Increased Energy

Near infrared activates the color sensitive chemicals, stimulating the energy processes in cells.

  • Improve circulation to the muscles

Near infrared causes the release of nitric oxide. This stimulates vasodilatation of the microcirculatory system, bringing more blood to the muscles. .

  • Better Endurance

Studies have shown muscle fatigue was reduced by up to 42.2% when exposing muscle to near infrared.

  • Increased Strength

Growth hormone release is induced by an increase in body temperature and not by exercise itself. Growth hormone increases muscle mass, calcium retention, and lipolysis (the breakdown of stored fat).

  • Faster recovery time

Certain tissue regenerating genes including integrins, laminin, gap junction proteins and kinesin proteins have shown a two- to five-fold increase upon exposure to near infrared.

  • Workout in less time

Due to increased production of ATP and quick dilation of the microcirculatory system, a person can lessen warm-up time and work at a higher level of exertion without increasing blood pressure.

  • Detoxify the Body

Increased blood circulation stimulates the sweat glands, releasing built-up toxins and waste. Sweat is the only way to remove certain carcinogenic PCBs, dioxins, phthalates, and volatile organic hydrocarbons.

  • Reduced Visible Cellulite

Cellulite is fat mixed with toxins that are trapped, in part due to an underactive circulatory system. Cellulite is so visible, in part due to weakened connective tissue. Near infrared helps rebuild connective tissue and has been shown to reduce cellulite.

  • Rejuvenates Skin

DNA Synthesis of fibroblasts, which affects the elasticity of skin, increase five-fold with NIR. The result is younger-looking, more beautiful skin.

  • Lessens Join and Muscle Pain/Increases Flexibility

Penetrating heat from near infrared has long been proven to reduce pain and increase circulation to areas of discomfort. NIR has also been shown to significantly increase the range of flexibility.

Why Infrared?

The idea behind infrared therapy is to heat your body directly with infrared heat. In a traditional sauna you are just sitting in a hot room, 180-220 degrees. In an infrared sauna, the infrared is heating your body directly and 20% of the heat is heating the air. The idea is to increase thermal energy in the body so you want the infrared on your front core and your back core.

The infrared heat increases thermal energy and temporarily stimulates your lymphatic system, immune system and your cardiovascular system. Your bodies response to that is to sweat profusely.

In addition to the infrared heat triggering a profuse sweat, the water in our body also resonate with far infrared heat and this also helps with the detoxification process.

FAQ

  • Bring a towel, swimsuit, and water to stay hydrated during your session.

  • The Clearlight Sauna is the best brand out there. It is full spectrum, allowing for the highest benefit from near, mid, and far infrared and is extremely low EMF compared to competitors.

  • Start low and work your way up. Your first sessions may only be 20 min at 100 degrees. Eventually you can work your way to 45min at highter temps between 120-145 degrees. Don’t be surprised if you don’t sweat the first few sessions as this will increase with regular use.

  • Drink at least 24 oz. of water or electrolyte to rehydrate. Move slowly and be cautious if you experience any lightheadedness or dizziness.
